About Laurie Pawlik-Kienlen

Laurie Pawlik-KienlenI’m a full-time freelance writer and blogger on Bowen Island, BC, Canada; my degrees are in Education and Psychology, from the University of Alberta. I write for a variety of national magazines and websites — but building See Jane Soar and my “Quips and Tips” blogs is my passion!

Part of my motivation for this Web site - See Jane Soar – came from Laurel Thatcher Ulrich’s quotation: “Well-behaved women rarely make history.” I want NOT to be a well-behaved woman, and I want to encourage other women to pursue their passions and live their best lives (to borrow a phrase from Oprah Winfrey).

I write for magazines such as Reader’s Digest, Woman’s Day, Spirituality & Health, alive, MSN Health and sometimes More. My website — The Adventurous Writer – lists my credentials and published articles.

Laurie Pawlik-Kienlen’s Blogs

Quips and Tips for Spiritual Seekers is my newest blog — it’s a partnership with author and transformational coach, Gini Grey. It’s a fledgling blog, and blends psychology (my specialty) with intuition (Gini’s area of expertise). Like all my “Quips and Tips” blogs, it features a book and practical life tips in every article.

On Quips and Tips for Couples Coping With Infertility, I pair inspirational quotations with practical ways to deal with infertility and the hope of getting pregnant. Again, I highlight a book in every article. My goal is to help people remember that infertility is a drag, but it doesn’t have to make us bitter, angry, or depressed. Infertility is ugly, but it doesn’t have to wreck our dreams!

Quips and Tips for Successful Writers follows the same format as all my “Quips and Tips” blogs. There, I pair inspirational quotations from published, famous, and infamous writers with practical writing advice for both newbies and professionals.

See Jane Soar is based on a book I hope to write one day; I want to pull life lessons from successful women in history. Amelia Earhart, Martha Stewart, Annie Oakley, Martha Beck – there are SO many women we can learn from!

And finally, I’ve been the Feature Writer for Psychology Suite101 since October 1, 2006. There, I specialize in articles about mental and emotional health and wellness.

Enjoy yourself here, my friend, and may you achieve all your goals…
